Exercise: Could, Should/Ought, Would like
Use these spinners to practice could, should/ought,and would like, using gallwn, medrwn, dylwn, dylwsn, hoffwn, leiciwn. These do not use yn, but can be combined with fod wedi for have.
Step One
Spin the wheel and see which tense you’re going to be studying in this session. You can refresh your memory using these pages:
- Medrwn – I could (N)
- Gallwn – I could (S)
- Medrwn … fod wedi – I could have (N)
- Gallwn … fod wedi – I could have (S)
- Dylswn – I should, I ought to (N)
- Dylwn – I should, I ought to (S)
- Dylswn … fod wedi – I should have, I ought to have (N)
- Dylwn … fod wedi – I should have, I ought to have (S)
- Leiciwn – I would like (N)
- Hoffwn – I would like (S)
- Leiciwn … fod wedi – I would have liked to, I would like to have (N)
- Hoffwn … fod wedi – I would have liked to, I would like to have (S)
Step Two
Spin the wheel to pick a pronoun or noun, then write out three sentences using the affirmative (a statement), interrogative (a question) and negative (a denial). Click ‘eliminate’ when you’ve finished each pronoun/noun, then spin again.
Step Three
If you want to, you can pick a verbnoun to use in your sentences. Either pick one for the entire exercise, or pick a new one after each three sentences.
